In 1779, Count Friedrich Wilhelm Carl von Schmettau (1743 – 1806) purchased the Garzau estate and created a large landscape garden with many staffage figures to the north of the village. Von Schmettau also had a pyramid built in these gardens, which was rebuilt by a friends’ association from the year 2000. It is Germany's largest fieldstone pyramid, and it accommodates a vaulted basement, chambers, a main hall, a portal and a dome. This architectural gem on the former estate grounds can be viewed from the outside. There is a leaflet about the history and the reconstruction of the pyramid in Garzau. Occasionally, concerts and guided tours are hosted there, which are announced on the website.

Tip: Every last Sunday in August, an open-air concert is held by the pyramid.
