  • Feuerwehr- und Technikmuseum Eisenhüttenstadt
The collection and exhibition of Brandenburg’s first fire fighting museum focusses on the historical development of fire extinguishing technology. The museum is home to historic as well as modern equipment. Located in the historic centre of the district Fürstenberg, the Feuerwehrmuseum Eisenhüttenstadt is Brandenburg’s only museum to specialise in this area. It is considered one of Germany’s most important and comprehensive collections of historic fire extinguishing technology.

Following in the footsteps of the fire-protection cabinet that opened in October 1974, this museum has been open without interruptions since June 1992. The facility’s distinguishing feature is a specially designed fountain on the museum’s forecourt next to its entrance that is particularly popular on hot summer days.

Specialist areas of collecting include portable pumps, hand-held fire extinguishers, helmets, uniforms and fire fighting technology from the former GDR. The main attractions are a number of restored fire engines, including one from 1922. The oldest exhibit is a cart sprayer as was used around 1750.

Research and restoration are the core duties of the museum staff. The museum gladly accepts historic items relating to fire fighting to preserve them for future generations. Historic fire fighting technology and documents are successively added to the collection and the permanent exhibition. Dixieland concerts are held at the fire fighting museum every year, in early May and late October.
