Located on the eastern border of the district of Märkisch-Oderland and the state of Brandenburg, the small village of Güstebieser Loose has been a district of the municipality of Neulewin with 241 inhabitants since 2003. Due to the EU enlargement the village has moved into the center of the European community. Since the beginning of the 90s, the community, associations and citizens have been working for the revival of a ferry across the Oder to the neighbouring country Poland. In November 2007, after an interruption of more than 60 years, the ferry was finally inaugurated.

The small ferry without border. The small Oder ferry with the great name "Bez Granic", i.e. "without borders", represents a tourist and cultural link between Germany and Poland. At hourly intervals, it transports people from both countries who are eager to travel and wander from shore to shore for a small fee, with or without a car, and contributes its share to the German-Polish friendship.

The ferry connection now exists again, as it was common in the Oderbruch before 1945. Today, the paddle-wheel ferry "Bez Granic" is the only one of its kind and not only promotes border tourism in the region, but is the symbolic part of a borderless coexistence. Its name is, so to speak, its program.
