The ferry connection now exists again, as it did before 1945 in the Oderbruch. Today, the paddlewheel ferry “Bez Granic” is the only one of its kind and not only promotes border tourism in the region, but is also a symbolic part of borderless coexistence. Its name is its program, so to speak.

Located on the eastern border of the district of Märkisch-Oderland and the state of Brandenburg, the small village of Güstebieser Loose has been a part of the municipality of Neulewin with 241 inhabitants since 2003. EU enlargement has brought the village to the heart of the European community. Since the early 1990s, the community, associations and citizens have been campaigning for the revival of a ferry across the Oder to neighboring Poland. In November 2007, after an interruption of over 60 years, the ferry was finally reopened.
