The Lake Gräbendorfer See is located in the southeast of the town of Vetschau/Spreewald in the district Laasow, standing out among other things due to its impressive surface area of 457 hectares. Created from the former open-cast mining town of Gräbendorf , it was released by the mining authorities in September 2018. The 9-kilometre asphalted circular path around the lake is great not just for cycling but also for skating and walking. Take a look at the floating houses directly on the shore of the lake: they can be reached via a jetty. One of these was created as part of a project for the International Building Exhibition (IBA) “Prince Pueckler Land”. Further development is planned for the purpose of tourism and there are already visible signs of this.

In the many natural bathing bays you can enjoy relaxing hours and the impressive play of colours on the water. Try the excellent bathing water quality for yourself. The lake offers a fine sandy beach as well as various leisure activities such as surfing, paddling, sailing and of course swimming.

There’s lots to see below the surface, too: divers will find an underwater forest in which numerous species of fish are hidden, as well as fragments of a sunken city. There is also a sailing boat wreck which can be seen when visibility is good.
