This museum is located in the centre of the village right next to the towerless Classicist village church. On a surface area of approximately 600 square metres in six rooms, you can find out about the rural way of life of the Sorbian/Wendish people. Items include furniture, household goods and pictures showing the history of the village of Jänschwalde, as well as tools dating from around 1900.  There is also an impressively varied collection of more than 40 beautiful original costumes, as well as a presentation of the traditional Sorbian/Wendish customs maintained throughout the year, some of which are still practised in the village to this day. Visitors can find out about Janšojski bog – the Christ Child: this costume is even unique throughout the whole of Lower Lusatia. Meanwhile the restored parish barn contains a major ceramics collection: from household vessels to art objects – everything that has been made from clay in Lusatia over the last three centuries is on display here. One rare exhibit is the historic horse-drawn hearse carriage.
