Big, bigger, Lake Schwielochsee! The station is a good starting point for exploring Brandenburg’s biggest natural lake by raft and for bathing in the crystal-clear water of the natural idyll. Breathtaking nature and secluded little bathing areas: With a water surface of more then 13 square kilometres, Lake Schwielochsee has so much to offer. The two little former farmers’ villages Goyatz and Jessern are located on the southern shore of the lake, at the edge of Spreewald Forest. Here visitors will find bathing spots, sporting facilities, shops and lovely little restaurants: Enjoy some regional specialities when you take a break on-shore.

Nature lovers and those seeking relaxation should opt for a tour in northerly direction. After crossing Lake Schwielochsee, you will reach the lakes Glower See and Leißnitzsee, before travelling on along the ancient riverbed of Spree River. The river is virtually unspoilt on this stretch towards Beeskow that is about 40 kilometres long. There is hardly any other boat traffic.

Along the way, there are a variety of anchorage and mooring points – whether at water hiking rest areas and campsites or in the middle of the countryside. On the banks of the river there are often only woods and meadows, occasionally interrupted by small residential areas. The animal world still seems to be intact here, and with a bit of luck you can observe beavers cutting down trees or watch countless bats swarming out at dusk. Greeting each other with the traditional salutation ‘Petri Heil’, anglers can look forward to a good catch.
