The half-timbered church from the 18th century has a rectangular hall structure with a three-sided apse. It is built on the foundations of a medieval church and located on the edge of the former estate. The structure is surrounded by a number of linden trees that are over 500 years old. The unusual half-timbered design with timber beams that are positioned close to each other, is also referred to as close studding. The style is believed to have been invented by the Huguenots from northern France.

After many years of deterioration, a number of institutions felt responsible for reconstructing the church in the 1990s. The multi-functional use of the Kirchlein im Grünen (little church in the country) was therefore resumed in 1995.

Everybody is welcome, nowadays, to attend the church services, listen to the concerts or admire the structure’s unity with nature. The church is open all year round. Guided tours can be booked.
