The Grumsin beech forest has been part of the World Natural Heritage Site “Ancient Beech Forests of Germany” since 2011. It can impress with its unusual surface relief of jagged hills and deep valleys. In many places, the forest is interrupted by differently sized marshes, alder swamps and forest lakes. The area is home to white-tailed eagles, cranes, black storks and the rare marsh calla.
