Expedition to the Märkische Schweiz region

Lakes and streams, deciduous forests, gorges and valleys, moors and fishponds, fields, meadows and hedgerows - the Märkische Schweiz Nature Park combines the diverse landscapes of Brandenburg in a small area.

The Märkische Schweiz Nature Park Visitor Centre, opened in 2021,functions as a barrier-free base camp for excursions into the nature park. Guests can take a break here, plan hiking and cycling tours, recharge their bikes and stock up on fresh water.

An interactive exhibition provides insights into the history of Märkische Schweiz. How was the landscape formed during the Ice Age? How is it used today and what could its future look like? Special highlights are the ice age wall and the multimedia nature park relief.

The visitor centre is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm and on Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. A stepless entrance, wide doors and wheelchair-accessible tables ensure comfort for wheelchair users. Stations for hearing and touching as well as texts in easy-to-read language (German only) make the exhibition accessible to all visitors.

With its terminal moraine hills, deep gorges and many lakes, the Märkische Schweiz Nature Park really does look like a little Switzerland. The last ice age created fascinating landscapes here, which are particularly easy to experience while hiking or cycling. The climate here is also special.
