Industrial culture in Brandenburg Discover brickyards, briquette factories and manufactures

Brandenburg is full of historic sites standing testimony to the region's industrial culture. Discover exciting places of Brandenburg's industrial history. You do not need to be into tech stuff to be impressed by the size of the F60 visitor mine, a former overburden conveyor bridge, also referred to as the “Lying Eiffel Tower”, after reaching the monument's top with a tour guide.

The history of industrialization can be experienced at many sites in Brandenburg. The state’s many interconnections with Berlin seem particularly fascinating. Without Brandenburg’s resources, Berlin’s rapid development to a metropolitan area would have been inconceivable. All that Berlin needed for its development arrived on the water: Food, coal, and construction material.

Today's brickyard in Mildenberg supplied bricks to Berlin for the construction of residential homes. The milk glass supplied for the illumination of elegant lamp shades in Berlin's parlours originates from the glassworks in Baruth. Tiled stoves – common in residential homes – were heated with briquettes from Lusatia, for instance, from the briquette factory LOUISE. For the capital’s new communication needs, radio and broadcasting stations were built in Königs Wusterhausen. All these historic places offer curious minds lots of things to experience.
