Start/Finish: Schorfheide-Info Joachimsthal via Althüttendorf, Groß-Ziethen

How to get there: NEB RB 63 from Eberswalde or Templin, RE 3 and RB 24 from Berlin, car via the A11 motorway

Route description: The tour starts from Schorfheide-Info in Joachimsthal and provides insights into the geological heartland of the geopark with Ice Age relics such as the block terminal moraine compactions in Sperlingsherberge or a replica of the former quarry profile with a 13 metre high relief in the Ihlowbergen. Open arable landscape lines the way, which also meets the Buchenwald Grumsin UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. From here, you continue on via Klein Ziethen , Groß-Ziethen and Althüttendorf back to the starting point.

Sights: Grimnitzsee Lake, active quarry (gravel pit), Sperlingsherberge, Buchenwald Grumsin UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, Drebitzberg with a view of tree lakes, Groß-Ziethen Geopark Centre, Ihlowberge as a former quarry, BIORAMA viewing platform
