The oldest part of the building can be seen in the sanctuary. It is presumes that this part was built as a chapel in the 13th century by the Cistercian monks. The later addition of the nave is evident from the regularly hewn granite stones. In terms of architectural history, the building dated back to the final years of the 13th century. The tower built using mixed masonry was the last part to be built, probably in the 15th century.

High-quality concerts of various genres regularly take place at the cobblestone church.
