The old Hospitalkirche St. Georg hospital chapel is to the north of the city. At just under 700 years old, it is one of the oldest sacral buildings in the town and can look back on an eventful history. The former hospital was still run by women in the 16th century, who dedicated themselves to washing the dead and caring for the sick. The site had already fallen to ruin by the 17th century but just escaped being demolished as the materials that could be recovered were deemed to be insufficient. When the last hospital building disappeared, the remaining chapel was used as a concert hall and museum. Unfortunately, the chapel is currently empty and is closed.
