The church is a simple rectangular hall with an inset choir. The masonry consists of layers of regular, hewn cobblestone. While the windows in the nave and choir were all enlarged, the group of three windows on the east side have remained virtually unchanged. Their original window frames made of oak were even uncovered in 1906. Unfortunately, there is no trace of them today; a regrettable situation as an important opportunity to date them using the rings in the wood has been lost.

On the west side, there is a typical pointed arch, multi-level portal. There is a counterpart to this on the north side, which is similarly detailed and now added on. Inside, nave of the triumphal arch with its flat ceiling also features pointed arches. Two bells from the 13th century have been preserved. Both are decorated with medallions depicting a lamb, the Annunciation, the House of Ascania eagle, the Carrying of the Cross, the Crucifixion and portrayals of angels, among other things.

Despite a lack of dendrodata, the building can be dated without any problem to the 13th century based on the floor plan and stonework. The juxtaposition between the simple floor plan of the church, consisting of just a nave and choir, and the detail in the bells and portals is remarkable.
