The village of Friedrichswalde, once Germany’s largest wooden shoe-making village, shows visitors how the historic handicraft and the production of ‘clogs’ worked with special machines from the year 1928. The range comprising expert knowledge, sport and entertainment makes for an all-round enjoyable visit, where visitors discover how alder, poplar and willow trees undergo several processing stages.

Location and fittings:  by the church, conference rooms for 45 people, accessible toilet

Programmes and extras: Coach parking, sale of regional products/souvenirs, only open if booked in advance, individual itinerary for groups starting from 6 people (introduction to the handicraft of making wooden shoes, wooden shoe quiz, historic film on wooden shoe-making, brief excursion), offers for children, the ‘Schorfheider’, a 50%-funded bus, is available for school classes from the Barnim region to transport students from EJB Werbellinsee to the Holzschuhmachererlbeniszentrum – please consult the Schorfheide-Info for further information
