This goat farm run by the Pörschke family is situated in the eco-village of Brodowin, in the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve, the site of agriculture for generations. Today the farm is home to more than 120 German Improved White goats and Toggenburg boats. In the colder half of the year they live in a play pen with a spacious outlet, and in the warmer months they can then roam the meadow to their heart’s content. Of course there are also baby goats, and the pen is busy every year starting from February. Once the lambs have been weaned off their mothers’ milk in May, the goat’s milk is used to produce several varieties of tasty cream cheese.
