The Barnim Panorama in Wandlitz is a combination of visitor centre and agricultural museum that is unique in Germany. Located in the middle of the old village centre, it is the starting point for explorations of the 750-square kilometre Barnim Nature Park. While the 1,650-square metre exhibition space offers exciting insights into the subject of agriculture, the adjacent nature park invites visitors to experience the countryside for themselves. In addition to enjoying the extensive forests and woodlands, visitors can also observe rare animal and plant species here. However, the "wild" Barnim region is not just a regular destination for adventurous nature lovers, the film industry has also left its mark here. It served as a backdrop for the historical drama "The Witch and the Ottoman" set in the dark woods of 1739. The adventure film is about the Ottoman prisoner of war Tahir and his companion Catharina, who is accused of witchcraft. Together they escape via the dense undergrowth and natural forests by Lake Wandlitzer See.

The 2016 film "Jeder stirbt für sich allein allein" (everyone dies alone) is just as dramatic and was also shot in Wandlitz. The drama is based on Hans Fallada's eponymous novel, which tells the true story of husband and wife Elise and Otto Hampel, resistance fighters against the Nazi regime. This British-German co-production also filmed in the former youth academy of the FDJ at Bogensee, which until 1945 served as the control centre of German propaganda and today faces an uncertain future.

The film team around director Matti Geschonneck also gathered at Barnimer Land. The lavish ZDF production "Unterleuten – Das zerrissene Dorf" (Unterleuten – the torn village) was filmed in Wandlitz. It is a screen adaptation of the eponymous novel by bestselling author Juli Zeh. In this star-studded three-part German series, many subtle characters engage in more than verbal quarrels over the construction of a wind farm.

In Wandlitz, the exciting film locations can be explored as well as the local fauna and flora. The region's restaurants on the waterfront afford stunning views of Lake Wandlitzer See and are very popular with visitors.
