The Eberswalde Forest Botanical Garden, idyllically situated in the Schwärzetal valley, offers a fascinating mix of recreation and natural history. Founded in 1830, the garden delights visitors with 1,200 native and exotic species of trees and shrubs. Colourful flowering plants and unusual trees such as the trumpet tree and the witch hazel create an impressive experience of nature. From the Chinese pavilion, visitors can enjoy a marvellous view of the grounds and the Schwärzefließ. An educational herb, medicinal and poisonous plant garden completes the offer. The garden, a central facility of the University for Sustainable Development, is accessible free of charge every day.
