The small Heidekrautbahn train station welcomes visitors at the entrance to Klandorf. The railway line has connected the Schorfheide village with Berlin since 1901. You can take a detour by bicycle to Klandorf from the Berlin-Usedom cycle path in Rosenbeck or via this circular trail, which begins and ends at Groß Schönebeck train station. The circular tour around Klandorf in Schorfheide runs through meadows and fields. In spring and autumn, this is a good place to watch cranes, who use the fields as a place to rest and gather.

How to get there: RB27 Heidekrautbahn from/to Berlin Karow

Klandorf was founded in 1811 after several major fires in neighbouring Groß Schönebeck. This allowed the farmsteads to be built a greater distances from each other to prevent any further major fires. This distance is still a special feature of Klandorf: The broad course of the historic village road and the distance between the individual farmsteads lends it a pleasantly generous feeling. The view from the village over the surrounding fields and forests is also quite expansive. Klandorf is a village with endearing Märkisch charm. It also impressed the location scouts who chose the village in 2013 to film the “Wolfsland” episode of the show Polizeiruf with Maria Simon and Horst Krause. And two years later, Wigald Boning and amateur actors from Klandorf advertised a well-known German brand of trail mix.

Nevertheless, the village remained tranquil, where young families also feel as at home as long-established residents. There is a small, family-run country restaurant that is only open on Sundays and by request. An old farmyard offers yoga and space for special projects, which also extend to the surrounding area.

If you like, you can shorten the tour and take the Heidekrautbahn railway (RB27) from Klandorf back to Groß Schönebeck or onward in the direction of Berlin Karow.

Trail conditions:  Hiking trail, asphalted road in Groß Schönebeck and Klandorf
