The tour takes you along the banks of the Finow Canal for almost 30 kilometres. This quiet and idyllic landscape is marked by lots of water and woodland, with its flora and fauna being your constant companion. The Finow Canal is the oldest artificial waterway that is still in use in Germany. While in the past this waterway was used to haul barges by muscle power and horsepower, today it is exclusively a tourist attraction. Whether by water or by land - the Finow Canal tells industrial history.

The twelve historic and still manually operated locks and the many partially restored industrial monuments bear witness to the former “Märkisches Wuppertal”. The tour along the Finow Canal can be cut short at Eberswalde station or extended to Liebenwalde along the Finow Canal. In Niederfinow it will be worth your while to take a detour to the two boat lifts or to Oderberg, which is another 10 kilometres away.
