Lake Werbellinsee is located in the middle of the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve, one of Germany's largest continuous forest areas. It is the second deepest lake (60 metres) in Mark Brandenburg (second only to Lake Großer Stechlinsee). The lake has stunning clear water which makes its surface shimmer in different shades of blue from turquoise to deep blue. The lake is 10.4 kilometres long. The Wiedenhöft shipping company has two 1930s passenger ships on the lake, which operate from mid-April to October. The ships depart from the Joachimsthal shipping port.
