It is the second deepest lake, in places to 60 metres, and one of the biggest lakes in Brandenburg measuring 787 hectares (13 kilometres long and 1.3 kilometres wide).

Lake Werbellinsee was formed in the last Ice Age as a typical channel lake. Lake Werbellinsee can be reached via the Werbellin Canal and invites you to explore the surrounding area with on-shore outings in Altenhof and Joachimsthal.
