Ragöse Lock is one of the twelve historic locks on the Finowkanal and is still operated by hand today. The lock was originally constructed between 1743 and 1749.

In 1875, the lock was rebuilt in its present form, and electric lighting was installed in 1929. To this day, the lock retains wooden lock gates at the upper head, which were renewed in 1952 and 1997.

Large parts of the lock area are open to the public and are popular with hikers and cyclists using the Treidelweg cyclepath and often stop here for a break right by the water. Good launching and landing points for canoes are available.
