There is plenty to experience in Groß-Ziethen! Find out about the Ice Age and take a hike through the World Natural Heritage Site of Buchenwald Grumsin. The tour starts at the geopark. The visitor and information centre at the edge of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site of Buchenwald Grumsin accommodates three floors of exhibition space about the formation of the landscape and the surrounding countryside. The exhibition tells you all about the Ice Age using models, interactive technology and graphic descriptions. You can then walk through the entrance gate that leads to the heart of the geopark, then past Georg the life-size mammoth, and then hike to the World Natural Heritage Site of Buchenwald Grumsin and/or to the adventure sites of Sperlingsherberge and Ihlowberge. The paths are signposted and the information panels and installations along the way are very informative. Several guided tours through the forest are offered, especially on the weekends.
