Königs Wusterhausen: Cycle and footpath damage on the Notte Canal! Due to the thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong gusts of wind on July 21 and 22, 2024, the path is closed. There was considerable damage along the Notte Canal as far as Mittenwalde. The clean-up work and necessary follow-up inspections will take some time. The path is accessible up to the B 179 (bridge) coming from the city center of Königs Wusterhausen.

This bicycle tours takes you on an architectural journey through time. The places and buildings you will see on the tour originate from different eras of history. The tour starts at the southernmost outskirts of Berlin, in Schönefeld. As you cast your eye across the runways, you can see the impressive new terminal building.

Further south you pass villages, orchards, medieval churches and farm shops. You should definitely make a stopover in Mittenwalde with its medieval town centre. Other interesting sights include the town of Königs Wusterhausen with the Prussian royal palace of Frederick William I, Wildau with its Schwartzkopf estate (which is under monument protection), and Zeuthen with its many villas, stately homes and estates by the lake. The return trip takes you along the Dahme Cycle Path to the legendary town hall of Berlin-Köpenick, which was built in 1905 in the Gothic brickwork style of Mark Brandenburg. Nearby, you will find the baroque ensemble consisting of the palace, the palace church and the monument protected palace park.
