The Kreuzkirche (Church of the Holy Cross) on Kirchplatz is very close to the royal hunting lodge of King Frederick William I and is thus at the centre of the historic core of the town of Königs Wusterhausen. It is a “hall church” redesigned in the Neo-Romanesque style, originally built from 1697 on. The building took on its current form in 1889. Inside the church, the Ahrend organ, installed in 2009, is particularly impressive. The organ was designed in the style of Arp Schnitger and is one of the few instruments in this North German organ tradition in Brandenburg.

The church is still used today for major events such as concerts, readings or exhibitions. The church music events such as organ or choral concerts or the many, varied activities of the brass band are a firm part of the cultural life of the church community and the town.

Visits to the church are generally possible on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Visitors should contact a member of the caretaker team. In addition, individual appointments or guided tours can be arranged in the Regionalküsterei (sexton’s office), telephone: +49 3375 258620 or with Mr Stark, telephone: +49 3375 294047.
