St Anthony's Church in Eichwalde impresses as a neo-Romanesque basilica with a striking silhouette. The Leipzig architect Clemens Lohmer designed the church with its typical arched windows, various extensions and superstructures as well as the imposing roofs. The brick rose window halfway up the tower, which is around 33 metres high, is particularly striking. This site was formerly occupied by the servants' quarters of the Radeland estate, which served as a Catholic chapel before the church was built in 1912/13. The Romanusplatz is considered the cradle of Eichwalde. Three bronze bells named Antonius, Maria and Joseph have been ringing since 2019. The originals were melted down during the First World War. The church stands on Romanusplatz, slightly offset from the central axis. At the start of construction, there was already a very old lime tree on the square. In order to preserve the tree, the church building was relocated. The lime tree had to be felled in the early 1960s due to old age.
