Lake Schwerin is part of the Teupitz Waters - a chain of lakes connected by canals and well-stocked with fish, especially whitefish, zander and eel. Apart from Lake Teupitz, Lake Schwerin and Lake Zemminsee, all the lakes in the chain are located in the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park. The Teupitz Waters are part of the federal waterway and can be navigated by motor boats. The shores of the lakes are characterised by pine forests, areas of sandy dry grassland and mixed deciduous forests. The waters are naturally cloudy with visibility below 50 centimetres.

Fishing from a boat is allowed, provided that the boat is anchored or moored to the shore. The lake is almost inaccessible from the village but can be accessed from the campsite. In the western part of the lake there is a Zanderberg (shallow water area with sloping shorelines). The shore areas vary from shallow water areas to steep shorelines. The eastern area is relatively flat with increasingly dense vegetation.

Facts about the lake:
  • Size: 237 hectares, deepest point: 4.7 metres, average depth 2.2 metres
  • Fish species: Especially good stock of zander, eel and whitefish. Pike, common bream, carp and catfish can also be caught here.
