The circular route was designed by the Austrian media artist Wolfgang Georgsdorf and realised in collaboration with the Landesbetrieb Forst Brandenburg forestry service, Hammer Forestry Service. The 18 kilometre hiking trail runs in the form of a literary forest walk along the shores of the River Dahme through the forest and heath landscape of the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park; there are reading stations approximately every 300 metres, with texts from world literature that invite walkers to stop and linger for a moment.
