The permanent exhibition tells the story of the Dahme region and the town of Königs Wusterhausen. The fully furnishing living room, child’s bedroom, kitchen and laundry from around 1920 are particularly interesting. The laundry contains the first washing machine – a wooden drum machine. Other rooms feature historic crafts illustrated using twelve different professions and a school room, providing a view of education 100 years ago. Trixi the Squirrel playfully accompanies the youngest museum visitors through the exhibition. Many of the exhibits, such as the washboard, old telephones, slate blackboards, scales with weights and millstones can be picked up and tried out. Visitors young and old can also learn about everyday life in the past in workshops: these include papermaking, washing and cooking in the olden days, grinding wheat into flour, writing in German using a feather quill and stylus or playing historic children’s games.

In the “Gallery in the Attic”, artists from the region, for example, are given the opportunity to display their works, such as paintings, graphics and photography. You will find information about the current exhibition on our website.

The museum courtyard presents historic agricultural machines, most of which are operational and which are demonstrated at events such as the annual “Museum Festival” and the “Museum Open Evening”.

Access to the exhibition rooms on the ground floor is also possible for wheelchair users via a lift. Interested guests are welcome to book guided tours.
