The inhabitants are very proud of the development and history of Motzen and Lake Motzen. This is especially evident in their lovingly prepared local history museum in the Haus des Gastes Motzen. Here you will find a diverse exhibition with exhibits from prehistory and early history, domestic economy, trade, the old brick industry, local plastics production, as well as water sports, golf and fishing. Hand tools and other agricultural equipment are also presented to the in the small adjacent open-air museum. Special attention is paid to the former brickyard industry, which shaped the landscape around Motzen. In 1840 the first brickyard was opened in neighboring Töpchin and more than 10 other brickyards followed. Around 1850 brickworks were also established in Motzen. The clay, rubble and bricks were even shipped by water transport: Motzen Lake, Gallun Canal and Notte Canal. The two signposted brickyard hiking trails in Motzen also report on this special historical epoch on a total of eight information boards. You can start from the Haus des Gastes in the direction of Motzen-Mühle (2 km) or Seebadsiedlung (3 km).
