At Märkisch Buchholz, water tourists paddling along the Dahme flood canal are immediately confronted with two weirs, around which canoes must be carried. If you wish to only haul the boat out of the water once and you have a boat trailer, you can transport the boat over land on the 1.2 kilometre road alongside the canal.

The first weir, right in the town of Märkisch Buchholz, is a multi-level cascade weir. There is a wooden jetty under the weir that allows you to get out easily. There are trolleys available for transport, but some of these are very difficult to move. Under the bridge through Schützenstrasse, the upper part of the weir is reached, with the level pick-up point.
