In Finsterwalde, visitors should definitely make a point of visiting the market square, the Palace with its park, the District Museum with its old colonial store and the Singer’s Song Monument. In Kirchhain, visitors can visit the tawer museum about tanning and the historic market square. The historic town centre of Doberlug with its post column is also waiting to be explored as is the palace and monastery area. The trail continues past forest lakes and ponds, through idyllic and picturesque villages until you reach Finsterwalde and Bürgerheide Park, a popular destination for a day out for locals of Finsterwalde.

  • Train: from Berlin-Schöneweide, take the RB24 (Senftenberg) regional train to Calau, then take the R10 (Leipzig) to Finsterwalde (about 1.5 hours)
  • Car: from Berlin, take the A13 and leave it at the Bronkow exit and then continue on to Finsterwalde (about 1.5 hours)

Route: Finsterwalde, Drößig, Fischwasser, Doberlug-Kirchhain, Frankena, Münchhausen, Finsterwalde

Possible combinations:

  • Fürst-Pückler Cycle Path
  • Historic Town Centres Cycle Routes 5
  • Historic Town Centres Cycle Routes
  • Elster Bicycle Tour
