The Frauenkirche Church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, was the parish church of the New Town. The first Protestant pastor began his ministry here in 1539. The long nave, which is extended by a broad west tower, was built between 1487 and 1525.

The most important structure in the interior is the former altar belonging to the Monastery church. The altar, created in 1569 by the Dresden court painter Heinrich Göding, was created to correspond to the Protestant confessional model. A Lutheran window from 1911 includes a portrait of the reformer.
