The half-timbered church in Saathain, which is under monument protection, is located on an estate and was built on the site of the palace chapel. Built in 1629, it sits within the complex consisting of the rose garden, old park and reconstructed estate. The rulership of J.G. Dietze was of particular importance to the church from 1815 onwards.

The present shape of the church is particularly marked by its reconstruction in 1816, initiated by the Lords of the palace and estate. The tower was newly built, and the sacristy and manor house were added. The floor in the sanctuary was also lowered, under which are located a number of graves, including those of the Schleinitz family. Little has been changed in the main body of the church, although the paintings that were painted over are now visible again. Remnants of these paintings were discovered during the renovation of the ceiling in the late 1980s and were masterfully restored during the reconstruction of the church by Dresden restorers.

Today, Saathain Church is a coherent yet picturesque building. The colourful and visual design of the interior is particularly impressive. Painted wooden areas on the side walls and ceiling are extraordinarily attractive with their Old Testament images. The small pulpit altar is characterised by its simple late-Baroque forms. During the summer, concerts invite visitors into the interior of the church. The church also provides a romantic backdrop for civil, free or church weddings.
