Length: 14 kilometres

Start/finish: Domsdorf

Marking/logo: The tour is not signposted.

How to get there:
  • Take the A100, A113 and A13 motorways from Berlin towards Luckau. Take the B96 to Doberlug-Kirchhain and continue to Tröbitz (about 2.5 hours)
  • Take the RE10 (Senftenberg) regional express train from Berlin Ost (Berlin East) railway station to Calau, then take the RE10 (Leipzig) regional express train to Doberlug-Kirchhain. From here, take the bus line 560 (Bad Liebenwerda) to Domsdorf (about 3 hours)

Route description: The tour starts at the parking area at the Louise briquette factory. Follow the signs here for Wahrenbrück. After a few metres, there is a pit lake on the right-hand side. This is where beavers live, which you can clearly see from the gnawed and felled trees. After a sharp left turn, continue straight ahead, following the signs for Wahrenbrück. You will pass wide fields, meadows and forests until you arrive at the animal enclosure in Wahrenbrück after hiking for six kilometres and finally cone to the Kleiner Spreewald park.

We recommend a punting boat or canoe tour on the Kleine Elster River. The branched river landscape invites visitors to relax and here too you can occasionally tell where the beavers live because of the gnawed tree trunks. If you are still not tired of hiking, you can finish the hiking tour back to the Louise briquette factory.

Trail conditions/surface: The tour leads along unspoilt and partially asphalted paths, flat terrain
