Finsterwalde swimming pool is located in the north of the town and is a popular gathering place in summer. There is plenty of room for everyone within the expansive grounds of the open-air swimming pool known as the “Swimming Stadium of Friendship”. Facilities include a swimming pool and a non-swimmer pool, starting blocks, 3.5 and 10-metre diving boards and a large slide. The complex also includes a large sunbathing lawn with lots of shady trees, two volleyball courts as well as other sports and games options.

In the past, the German National Championships were held in this stadium. Roland Matthes, world record holder, Olympic champion and one of the GDR’s best athletes won medals in this pool.
