The twin town of Doberlug-Kirchhain is surrounded by wide fields, lush meadows and quiet forests. The Kloster Dobrilugk monastery, founded in 1165, was already an important religious and economic centre in the region back in the High Middle Ages. The monastery church and neighbouring castle are monumental testimonies of this period. The Kleine Elster River with its soft water is the reason why tanners pursued their trade in Kirchhain. Today, the tawer museum in Kirchhain, which is unique in Europe, and the extensively renovated monastery and castle area in Doberlug attract many visitors.
The tourist information desk is located in railway station and offers the following services:
  • Sale of souvenirs, cycling and hiking maps, regional literature as well as event tickets
