On European Bicycle Route R1 between Baitz and Brück, the lowland area known as Belziger Landschaftswiesen extending for about 41 square kilometres in the Baruth glacial valley. One of the most important bird sanctuaries in Brandenburg is found there for grassland birds, providing a habitat for great bustards. The Nordic geese and ducks stopping off here in winter are an impressive natural spectacle. Over 4,000 hectares of the Belziger Landschaftswiesen lowlands have been protected as a nature reserve since 2005.
