Lake Reibener See is in the district of Beelitz by the same name covers about 38 hectares and is one and a half metres deep. Ducks were fattened here up until the 1980s. After intensive farming ceased in 1991 and no more manure and chemical fertilisers could be discharged into the lake, the waters became clear over the course of years. Because it is surrounded by reed beds and alder fens, the lake can only be seen clearly from the jetty. In autumn during the bird migration period, numerous ducks and geese spend the night on the lake, a real spectacle of nature. There are lots of great crested grebes on the lake; reed warblers and marsh harriers hide in the reeds. A circular hiking trail of about six kilometres leads to Lake Riebener See. It is suitable for hikers, cyclists and wheelchair users.
