The cobblestone church in Dennewitz is a Gothic structure decorated in the Baroque style. The priest "Fridericus de Danewiz" was first mentioned in 1174, which suggests a previous wooden building. Around 1300, the façade of the current building was built as a Gothic rectangular hall, the tower was first added in the 14th/15th century without being connected to the church’s interior and was increased in height during the Middle Ages. This can be seen from the differenced in the stonework. When the church was being renovated in the 19th century, the nave was extended eastward and the church was enlarged and the walls and ceilings were decorated around 1900.
