The St. Nicolaikirche in the Elbe village of Steckby near Zerbst has been a cyclist's church on the Elbe Cycle Route R2, which leads from Prague to Hamburg, since 2008, and has also been a station on the Luther pilgrimage route since Easter 2009. As the patron saint of travelers, St. Nicolai is also the namesake of the church in Steckby. In the stone church built around 1200, the cycle and pilgrimage routes of a wide variety of people cross. During the cycling season, the church is open from Easter to Reformation Day between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Inside there is seating available for a rest, as well as a display of information material about the church and the region. A mobile toilet is available and fresh water can be drawn from the cemetery water connection. And if you stop here, you should definitely climb the half-timbered church tower of the church, which was completely renewed and renovated in 2007 and is now accessible to all visitors.
