This red-brick town church with a tall, slender tower defines the Niemegk skyline from far away. The church is perfectly complemented by the town’s other icon: its Renaissance-style town hall. The neo-Gothic church was built in 1853 from a design by August Stüler, a student of Karl Friedrich Schinkel. In the centuries beforehand, and for the last time in 1850, numerous town fires had burnt the church’s predecessors to the ground again and again.

When visiting and observing the church today its octagonal tower is especially striking, as well as the spikes on the roof, typical of the Gothic style, and the gallery hall. Wooden arcades and a triangular gallery characterise the interior of the church. The organ was built by the Niemegk organ builder Gottfried Wilhelm Baer. The church is a stop on the signposted tour of the town of Niemegk.

Reception and keys from Manfred Reents, Kirchplatz 6, telephone: +49 33843 50415, or in the rectory, Kirchplatz 9, telephone: +49 33843 51338
