Originally just one municipality, Michendorf is now formed of six different village districts. On a stroll through Wildenbruch, Langerwisch, Fresdorf or Wilhelmshorst you’ll discover impressive buildings including a fieldstone church that’s over 800 years old, a pair of wooden windmills, or a colony of villas from the beginning of the twentieth century. while scenes from the gripping three-part series ‘Unterleuten – Das zerrissene Dorf’ were also filmed in Michendorf. The elaborate production blended various shooting locations in Brandenburg into one fictional village called Unterleuten. The series, based on the bestselling book of the same name, was directed by Matti Geschonneck and features an all-star cast. The adaptation depicts how the villagers’ world is thrown into turmoil by an investor building a wind park in Unterleuten. Locals and immigrants, men and women, young and old, people with and without a past in the former East Germany. All of them are put to a gruelling test.

Karla Lorenz, a special representative to the Foreign Office, also finds herself confronted with a challenge. Natalia Wörner, winner of the German Television Prize, plays the tough diplomat in the captivating political thriller ‘Die Diplomatin: Das Botschaftsattentat’. Alongside gritty dramas, Michendorf has also been a location for lighter subject matter: The beloved family film 'Conni & Co.’ was also filmed here.

As well as exploring exciting filming locations, the 'Forest Tour’ (‘Am-Wald-Tour’) through Michendorf and the surrounding area provides visitors with enjoyment and culture.
