The fifth stage of the Burgenwanderweg trail is 23 kilometres long from Görzke to Ziesar. It leads through fields and fells before the ruins of a medieval cobblestone church in the forest provides the first highlight of this stage. Gutspark Dahlen estate is also along the way. It is home to thirty-four species of tree, which can be discovered on a walk around. The town of Ziesar awaits with the imposing structure of the former bishop's residence Ziesar Castle. The Museum der brandenburgischen Kirchen- und Kulturgeschichte des Mittelalters (Museum of Brandenburg Church and Cultural History of the Middle Ages) and the local history museum bear witness to the immense historic importance of the region (Text: www.wandermagazin.de).

How to get there: Take the RE1 (Magdeburg) from Berlin central station to Brandenburg. From here take Bus 559 to Görzke (about two hours).

Return journey: From Ziesar take Bus 562 to Brandenburg, from there take the RE1 (Frankfurt/Oder) to Berlin central station (approximately two hours).

Route: Görzke, Köpernitz, Ziesar
