The Ortolan Circular Trail gets its name from the small ortolan bunting bird. The ortolan is a sparrow-sized bunting, which lives in a small, structured cultural landscape with forest edges, field groves, isolated trees and hedges. It breeds in the Nuthe-Nieplitz-Niederung nature reserve and on the East and West Jüterbog military training areas. This little bird is at serious risk of extinction. The circular path leads around Stücken through the Nuthe-Nieplitz nature reserve with its rich bird populations. Back in Stücken, round off the day with a sumptuous dinner in the Fliederhof or in the Landhaus "Zu Stücken” country house restaurant.
