The Fontane Trail F5 is one of six Fontane trails in total in the state of Brandenburg. It was developed based on Theodor Fontane’s "Wanderungen durch die Mark Brandenburg” (Walks through the March of Brandenburg) on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the writer’s death in 1898.

Start/Finish: Bahnhof Saarmund train station

How to get there:
  • Train: Take the RE/ (Dessau) from Berlin central station to Potsdam Rehbrücke. From here, take Bus No. 611 to Saarmund (about one hour).
  • Car: From Berlin via the A115 to Saarmund (about 45 minutes).


Route: Saarmund, Philippsthal, Güterfelde, Stahnsdorf, Kleinmachnow, Ruhlsdorf, Großbeeren, Genshagen, Löwenbruch, Kerzendorf, Thyrow, Groß-/Kleinbeuthen, Gröben, Saarmund

  • Güterfeld: Church & Haussee Lake, Gütergotz Castle
  • Stahnsdorf: Südwestkirchhof cemetery
  • Kleinmachnow: Lock, village church, vineyard
  • Großbeeren: Bülow Pyramid

  • Saarmund: Nuthe
