Not far from Handwerkerhof Görzke is Görzke Fortress. Look down on the site from a birds eye perspective, where the bushes follow the outline of the old fortification. Found fragments and the style of construction typical of the Slavic period support the theory that it is a Slavic fortress. An information point on site provides information on the history of the fortress, which was abandoned in around 1370. Parts of the fortress complex can still be seen today. A detour from the Töpferwanderweg (pottery hiking trail) leads from the Handwerkerhof to the fortress.
