Kupferhammer Thießen hammer mill is the only preserved and fully working hammer mill in Saxony-Anhalt. Probably built before 1600 on the River Rossel, a tributary of the River Elbe, it continues to be an interesting technical monument today. Given protected monument status as far back as 1958, the hammer mill continued to work up to 1960, while the copper forge continued to produce bath boilers and washing cauldrons up to the 1970s. The premises were completely preserved in 1983 so that visitors can still feel the former working atmosphere in the copper mill. Up to 120 strokes per minute were possible with the hundredweight-heavy hammer to hammer the copper.
