In Fläming Nature Park east of Zerbst/Anhalt, Garitz is part of the parish of Bornum. Garitz village church greets visitors from afar with its half-timbered tower and the Baroque cupola. If you walk along the main street from the church, you will come to Stärkefabrik Garitz starch plant. The lovingly restores building is now home to a village church museum, which is run by the “Entschlossene Kirchen” foundation, which is responsible for the upkeep of over 60 village churches in the church district. Village churches have defined the localities for centuries. The are not only worth seeing but can also tell lots of interesting stories. The provide identity and symbolise a little piece of home, not just for believers.  At the museum, almost forty miniature models of village churches in the region of Zerbst/Anhalt tell the history and describe the special features of the different church buildings. From Garitz, you can go on a tour of discovery to the themed churches, for example the Easter church, the Christmas church or the Hymnal church.
